Joe is an excellent teacher and a lovely guy. I started lessons with Joe after having frustrating lessons with a previous tutor which didn't seem like a right fit and I wasn't making progress. In our first lesson, Joe took time to listen to me, understand what styles of music I liked playing, how I preferred to learn and what I wanted to get out of tuition, which meant that I made massive progress in 1 lesson in comparison to months of lessons previously . I have a vast taste in music from heavy metal, to classic rock and pop punk, and even musicals. Joes is very adaptable and caters to whatever music I turn up with. He is very good working from printed music if I have it, or if not he manages to listen to the song and provide the right chords to play. The lesson is broke down in an easy way to work, slowly piecing the music together until you can play all sections. At the end of every lesson, he breaks down everything we have gone through, with the next stages I need to practice clearly lined out, so I'm confident with what I need to do to progress. Nothing is too much for him, and he has helped me and replied to messages outside my lesson if I ever get stuck. He has even provided video recordings for me if I need further help with what we learnt in the lesson. Overall, he is great to work with and I have improved massively since working with Joe.

Joe is a great guitar teacher and great guy. I have wanted to learn guitar for years and booking in with Joe was the best thing I ever did. The way everything is explained in the lessons is perfect and easily understandable - and Joe provides notes for you to refer back to whilst practising away from the studio. Anyone who has ever wanted to learn guitar or is considering it should certainly get booked in with Joe!

Perfect! Joe is excellent! He teaches my daughter and I’ve only been hearing positive feedback every lesson. He keeps each class interesting and engaging, which encourages my daughter to practise regularly throughout the week. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting to start the guitar.

Joe has tutored my son for a number of years now. The focus has been on enjoying the guitar through learning the songs that the student really wants to play. As a result, he keeps wanting to go, week in week out. Given that this period has covered Years 6-10 so far, his musical tastes have changed from rock and metal to some pretty intricate acoustic numbers - but Joe is always ready to adapt the journey so that the student is both developing and enjoying it. Next year there is talk of taking some RGT exams but again Joe takes a view of the students ability so that he will enter at the right level (neither too easy, nor too hard) to progress and build confidence. Finally, Joe is a great guy as well as a great guitarist and tutor!

Joe is an absolute amazing guitarist that can play anything he listens to. His motivation and enthusiasm to get you playing is amazing. He knows exactly where to help and develop your skills. I had been trying to learn from YouTube for around a year and I've learnt more with Joe in just 3 lessons. He is an absolute top guy and great teacher. Thanks Joe!!

I had wanted to learn guitar for a long time, Bass guitar to be precise but had never had the time or money to follow this up. Now all these years later the only thing stopping me was how do I go about it and who do I speak too ? Step forward Joe, This guy is first class he has the patience of a saint, his skill set and knowledge are outstanding. and he takes the time to find out what it is YOU want to learn and sets about this in a friendly professional manner. nothing is to much bother, he will give praise when necessary and constructive feedback when required, I was a bit nervous at first of trying something new, but would highly recommend this guy to all my family and friends regardless of age if like me they want to learn guitar. OUTSTANDING Joe Thanks Ian D.

An excellent teacher who always has the right attitude and passion. Not only are lessons really fun and enjoyable but they always feel productive and focused. These lessons are definitely helpful for both beginners and more advanced musicians. Evidence: helped me get a distinction in grade one.

Joe is very approachable with plenty of patience, which is a great attribute, for beginners like myself! Lessons are always relaxed and fun; I would not hesitate to recommend Joe to my friends and family. Great work Joe!

I started to learn the bass guitar a couple of years ago but hit a wall and gave up. My seven year old grandson started taking lessons with Joe late last year the feedback they gave about him persuaded me to give it another try. I've not regretted it and it's fun trying to learn again. Joe's very knowledgeable and, probably just as important, very patient. Learning's become a pleasure again. So whether you're seven like my grandson or sixty eight like me, I can recommend Joe as a teacher.

My daughter has been attending guitar lessons for nearly a year with Joe. He is a fantastic teacher, very passionate, professional and welcoming. Joe has given my daughter 100% of his time and dedication in lesson to build her confidence. He goes that extra mile to make sure the lesson he has provided is fully understood. Nothing is ever to much trouble, which has reflected in my daughters confidence and guitar playing.

Came to Joe as an absolute beginner. I did not know one end of the guitar from another but I had a passion to learn to play. Joe has kept me interested and I am learning new skills every time I take a lesson. It's great fun. Joe has a really laid back style of teaching, no fuss or impatience. How he picks up the tunes so quickly I'll never know. It's never to late to learn .

Joe is an excellent teacher, he has been teaching my son from a complete beginner and his knowledge and teaching method are first class, makes learning enjoyable, and the progress my son is making is a credit to Joe's guitar skill and teaching style.

How long will it take to learn to play guitar?

How long is a piece of string? :D There is no real response for this question as every student learns at a different rate. However as a guide someone who practices regularly between lessons should be able to play basic chords and a strumming pattern within 6 weeks.

Do you have any age restrictions?

I would recommend the earliest starting age of 5/6 years old. There is no upper age limit and I currently teach a lot of adults.
